Why I Do What I Do

I am committed to making change – both within individuals and the wider systems we inhabit. For many years as a youth worker and an environmentalist, I questioned how to change the world and create a fairer, more sustainable future for all generations. Over time, I came to understand that we can only change the world by changing ourselves.

While no single individual can overcome systems of inequality or oppression, we can choose how we respond to and participate in them. When we are caught in patterns of stress, reactivity and overwhelm, our ability to choose becomes narrowed. Stuck in survival mode, we disconnect from ourselves and our solidarity with others; become drained of energy needed for sustained action; lose our inner clarity and become more prone to internalising oppression. Our patterns of stress then ripple outward into our relationships and our communities, and even reinforce the systems we wish to change. When we cultivate greater presence, we create the possibility for different ways of relating and responding.

This is what draws me to Craniosacral Therapy and the support of coaching.

I see it as a powerful way of supporting the conditions from which meaningful personal and global change can emerge. By helping our nervous systems settle and reorganise, we create space for awareness, allowing us to come back to ourselves – and each other. From here, we are better able to navigate complexity and uncertainty, and offer a greater sense of care to ourselves, our friends, our family, our work – and our contribution to the wider world.

Wherever we find ourselves, we all live in a world that asks too much – so nervous system self-care must become an ongoing life practice, not something we do just once. This ongoing journey is the heart of my work and my own daily life.

I look forward to supporting you in slowing down and finding balance.
